I was honored when EverydayHealth.com asked me to write an article about the dual experiences of mom guilt and chronic illness guilt during the pandemic.
While I try not to wallow in guilt, it does crop it’s ugly head up periodically, especially during stressful times!
In this article, I explore how Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has helped me learn to tolerate uncertainty, which helps me manage anxiety around whether I’m being a “good enough” parent and chronic illness patient.
I also explore how the pandemic has affected my approach to parenting and the unique challenges of managing a chronic illness while meeting my child’s social-emotional and educational needs during this unusual time
Ultimately, I accept that my son needs to me to be PRESENT, not perfect. This is one of my mantras of parenting, and I hope it’s helpful to you as well!
