The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off…” (Gloria Steinem)

⭐️The truth is: not all problems are solvable, especially when it comes to chronic illness.

✅ Sometimes there is not a clear way to make your pain go away, or a way to “heal” your condition.

✅ Sometimes we can’t convince someone else that our invisible illness is real.

😱Does that piss you off? It sure does make ME frustrated!

That’s the bad news…BUT there is some good news, albeit paradoxical!

🔥IF you can learn to accept that some problems are perpetual, it CAN set you free…it certainly did for me!

When it comes to managing my stress around my chronic illness, it’s been incredibly freeing for me to recognize that some problems are perpetual, and that means that no amount of energy I can possibly expend will likely solve them.

Why is that freeing?

Because it means I can turn my energy towards something else: what’s STILL available to me, despite whatever problem I’m facing with my illness (pain, fatigue, stress, etc).

I outline this process, which is inspired by #acceptanceandcommitmenttherapy, in my free “How to Manage Stress & Thrive with Chronic Illness” webinar – you can get access to the recording here.

If this isn’t intuitive for you, trust me you’re in good company. It took me a while to truly accept this, but once I did, I promise you, I was set free, and I hope you can be too!
