Friendship bracelets are all the rage right now thanks to Taylor Swift’s “Eras Tour,” but making them can be hard if you have arthritis or hand pain!

As an occupational therapist who’s lived with rheumatoid arthritis for 21 years, here are my best life hacks for making friendship bracelets more easily if you have hand pain:

  • ✅ Use larger “pony” beads to make it easier to grasp and to save time
  • ✅ Use a bracelet board to stabilize the beads and make them easier to grasp
  • ✅ Tape down one end of your string to add stability
  • ✅ Use your compression gloves to reduce swelling, decrease pain sensation and improve body awareness to the finger joints though proprioceptive input!
