Listen up if you’re traveling soon – here are four of my favorite arthritis travel tips to make airplane travel easier!

  • 🌟 Think ahead – I always put my heaviest items in my checked baggage. I also pack as light as possible for my carry on, using a roller bag when possible as that’s easiest to carry, and always make sure all medications are in my carry on!
  • 🌟 Do hand stretches in the plane to keep fingers from getting too stiff or swollen. I also try to get up and stretch at least once per hour for every plane ride!
  • 🌟 Bring hydration items: staying hydrated is important, especially if you have dry eyes from inflammatory arthritis. I always pack extra eye drops, moisturizer, and of course water to stay hydrated!
  • 🌟 Utilize disability accommodations at airport – this can help you conserve energy and reduce pain while getting from the entrance to your plane and back!

Bonus: since I’m on immunosuppressants I also make sure to mask in the airport and on the airplane for extra protection from infections.
